Celebrating Employee Milestones and Achievements at the Beyond Awards

Posted: 28th November 2024

Congratulations to our employees who were honoured at the British Engines Group Beyond Awards 2024, celebrating milestones and achievements.

The awards acknowledge the accomplishments of apprentices, alongside employees achieving significant milestones for 25, 35, 40 and 45 years at businesses across the British Engines Group.

During the evening, guest speaker, John Beresford MBE, shared stories from his career as a left-back with Newcastle United as part of the legendary ‘Entertainers’ team. His insights and jokes brought excitement to the evening, especially for the Newcastle United fans in attendance!

Congratulations to David Croudace, Production Engineering Programmer, for 25 years, Graeme Laverick, Production Engineer, and Keith Bain, Despatch Support, for 35 years and Jackie Evans, Purchasing Manager, for 40 years.

The evening recognised apprentices Damon Chamber and Matt Hanlon for excelling in their training and college work.

Damon, Apprentice Fitter, received a 1st Year Technician Apprentice Award for his work on the Assembly team.

Damon learned to insulate spherical bearings, a specific and notoriously difficult process that some people have never achieved. Working alongside a 2nd year apprentice and with only a small amount of supervision, Damon was able to achieve and complete bearings that were both time critical and relationship sensitive for a key customer.

Matt Hanlon, Apprentice Fitter, received a 2nd Year Technician Apprentice Award for not only producing work of a highly skilled standard but also mentoring and supporting first year apprentices within the business.

Most noticeably, Matt recently built a time-critical and historically difficult bearing without any support. Being able to complete the bearing meant that a high-profile contract was delivered on time maintaining a positive relationship with a relatively new customer.
