As a Design and Draughtsperson Apprentice, you will produce designs and drawings for structures, piping, electrical systems, control and instrumentation systems and mechanical components used in industrial and commercial construction.

You will complete a 4 year apprenticeship specialising in Mechanical Engineering and will study with TDR Training, completing a portfolio of evidence to prove their competence to achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Construction Design and Draughting.

 

Training will be completed with a training provider who will monitor training and development within a formal apprenticeship standard.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

- Review and interpret technical information and requirements from different sources e.g. specifications, concepts, stakeholders

- Develop effective solutions which satisfy the required standards and can be manufactured, proven, operated and maintained in a cost-effective way whilst minimising costs

- Design engineering concepts to solve engineering challenges

- Identify inaccuracies or discrepancies in engineering drawings and specifications and propose solutions

- Produce detailed engineering drawings to relevant standards and codes, using paper and computer

- Communicate and co-ordinate engineering design options with relevant stakeholders, colleagues and clients using sketches, schemes, models, detailed drawings and reports

 

Who we’re looking for

 

To apply, you must have achieved GCSE’s in English and Maths (A*-C/ 9-5) and have a genuine desire to learn and develop.

 

We’re looking for someone who has effective time management and problem solving skills, as well as strong communication. You must be a team player, but able to work on your own initiative when needed.
