We are looking for a Quality Engineer who will have the responsibility of ensuring supplier quality through various key activities. This will include conducting internal and supplier audits, monitoring supplier performance, and reviewing material certifications to uphold stringent quality standards. You will play a main role in raising supplier concerns, as well as meticulously reviewing responses to ensure effective closure and resolution of issues.

 

In addition to these responsibilities, you will provide support to the Senior Project Quality Engineer, effectively reviewing and resolving any concerns that may arise in their absence, contributing to the seamless continuity of quality assurance efforts. This role plays a critical part in supporting the interpretation of our customer’s quality requirements, where precise communication of such requirements is required internally and externally via project specific documentation.

 

 

What you’ll be doing

 

 

  • Responsible for the day-to-day review and approval of supplier certification against applicable MQR (Material Quality Requirement), MDS (Material data sheet), specifications and standards, ensuring the effective release of raw materials and BOCs (Bought out complete components) into manufacture in alignment with the Operational Plan, ensuring traceability and technical requirements are met

 

  • Utilise the business system (IFS) to release approved materials and to prevent release in the presence of any identified issues

 

  • Daily review of QA release data (supplier certification) ensuring any concerns are presented at the daily sunrise meeting

 

  • Provide support to the Senior Project Quality Engineer:

 

-  Create / review Inspection & Test Plans (ITP)

-  Create / review Material Quality Requirements (MQR)

-  Review Bill of Materials (BOM)

-  Create / review Non-Destructive Testing procedures (NDT)           

-  Review and interpret supplier Weld procedures/Qualifications (WPS/PQR)                              

 

  • Act as an effective liaison between BEL Valves and the supply chain for matters related to quality issues

 

  • Act as a point of contact for material queries, utilise knowledge and experience to support stakeholder decisions

 

  • Facilitate supplier root cause analysis (RCA) and manage closure of corrective actions identified as a result of the supplier investigation

 

  • Conduct supplier audits in accordance with the supply chain requirements, attend supplier sites

 

  • Contribute to BEL Valves annual internal audit plan, conducting assigned audits by the agreed-upon date. Identify areas of audit non-conformances and verifies the implementation of corrective actions

 

  • Engage in design reviews, utilising process data and experience to ensure manufacturability is comprehensively considered.

 

Who we are looking for

 

To apply, we are looking for someone who is educated to either HNC or HND level with a minimum experience of 3 years in a similar industry.

 

We are also looking for someone who has an in depth understanding of technical documentation, proficient in reviewing customer specifications and supplier certification as well as knowledge in metallurgy. Experience in root cause analysis and continuous improvement processes are also a must.

 

The ability to work individually and as part of a team is important for this role as is someone who is a methodical thinker with a pro-active approach. Competent in the use of digital technologies with a good understanding of IT and software are also essential!
