An exciting opportunity has arisen at our site in Killingworth for a Test Technician to join our growing business.

 

As a Test Technician you will carry out responsibilities associated with fitting, assembly, pressure test set-up and testing of components. This role may have a requirement to deliver customer support onsite as well as offsite / offshore [subject to holding relevant certification].

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Fit and assemble components and finished goods in line with the customer requirements and documentation
  • Set up components / equipment and carry out pressure testing
  • Assist in fault finding activities when component / equipment failures occur
  • Use a range of hand tools and measuring equipment together with working knowledge of inspection procedures to undertake self-inspection
  • Complete work within single, small batch or a series of components and finished product processes
  • Work with a range of materials such as carbon and alloy steel, nickel based super alloys, stainless steel and duplex stainless steel
  • Interpret engineering drawings ensuring dimensional accuracy using both imperial and metric measures
  • Undertake manual handling processes including loading components and finished products
  • Support the training of apprentices and trainees
  • Participate in personnel development ensuring the performance management and development process (PMD) is well supported
  • Work as part of the operational team that interfaces with customers and end users to help develop their testing requirements
  • Operate computer systems accurately to ensure the control of testing activities, as well as the recording of work activities.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on equipment as required in their maintenance schedule.

Who we are looking for

 

To apply, we are looking for someone who is time served or has an equivalent NVQ / BTEC qualification in an engineering discipline.  Previous experience of working in a similar role is also essential as is an appreciation of quality improvement techniques and initiatives.
