Michell Bearings India was established in 1995 and has been manufacturing hydrodynamic bearings at its site in Bangalore for over 25 years. Using in-house resources, an Indian supply chain for all raw material and subcontract machining where required, the facility serves the domestic Indian market and international accounts in conjunction with Michell Bearings UK.
The 4,500 square meter manufacturing facility replicates the state-of-the-art machining methods, CNC capability and cutting tool technology used in the UK.
We are committed to the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Indian Government and have access to all of the skills and resources required to put this into practice.
Michell Bearings is part of the British Engines Group and is a global leader in the design and manufacture of hydrodynamic bearings for nuclear power plants.
Product applications include bearings for nuclear reactor cooling water pumps/motors inside the nuclear island, together with bearings for condensate extraction pumps/motors, cooling water circulation pumps/motors, steam turbines and generators in the conventional island.
A core element of the company strategy is to deliver product solutions for Indian nuclear power projects in line with the Government of India objectives for localisation and Indian manufacturing content.
Michell Bearings is a global leader in the supply of bearings for naval propulsion applications and auxiliary systems in the naval sector. Product applications include thrust blocks, propeller line shaft bearings and bulkhead sealing glands together with bearings for main propulsion motors, generators, gearboxes and auxiliary systems for both surface ships and submarines. Currently, Michell Bearings has active references with 35 world navies involving over 500 vessels.

Michell Bearings India has been supplying hydrodynamic bearings for the thermal power sector since it was established in 1995. Key product applications include vertical shaft bearings used in pumps and motors together with thrust bearings and and journal bearing internals for horizontal shaft pumps and steam turbines. Key Indian customers in the thermal power sector include BHEL Hyderabad, BHEL Bhopal, Kirloskar Brothers Limited, WILO and Triveni.

This repair service is not limited to Michell Bearings products, but covers all other brands of hydrodynamic bearings which can be fully manufactured to print or repaired to the original specification.
