Thrust Blocks
We have over 100 years of experience in designing main propulsion thrust blocks for all types of surface ships and submarines.
We have an extensive installed base of equipment on all types of marine vessels including mega yachts, cruise ships, ice breakers, research ships, patrol vessels, auxiliary vessels, frigates, destroyers, aircraft carriers and submarines.
Thrust blocks are generally designed to suit individual projects or developed from existing designs that have been supplied in the past.
Enquire now- Robust and reliable designs based on extensive experience.
- Axial thrust loads are supported on tilting whitemetal or PTFE lined thrust pads.
- Thrust pads are available with offset pivots to maximise the oil film thickness and reduce bearing temperatures.
- Load equalisation or load measurement features can be included if required.
- Radial loads can be supported on whitemetal lined journal bushes or whitemetal lined tilting journal pads. The use of tilting journal pads increases the dynamic shaft misalignment capacity of the bearing.
- High pressure oil injection can be incorporated in the radial bearing if required.
- Fully self-contained, water-cooled designs are available with proven methods of transferring oil from the bearing sump to the working faces of the bearing at all duty conditions.
- Various cooler materials, typically cupro-nickel, stainless steel or titanium, are available to suit individual specification requirements.
- Forced oil lubricated or circulating oil cooled solutions are available if required together with the associated oil lubrication systems.
- Proven sealing solutions to withstand emergency flooded compartment requirements.
- Robust naval bearing casing designs to withstand explosive shock forces.
- Facilities to measure the propeller thrust, either electronically or hydraulically, can be included in the thrust faces if required.
- Hydraulic resonance changing systems can be incorporated.
- Instrumentation can be included as required.
